GMC Supports World Autism Awareness Day
Light It Up Blue, in its third year, is a unique global initiative by Autism Speaks to help raise awareness about the growing public health concern that is autism.

In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly declared April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day, with the goal of bringing the world’s attention to autism, a pervasive disorder that affects tens of millions.

The GMC diversity committee is setting up a table from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in Withey Lobby to promote World Autism Awareness Day, and is encouraging people to wear blue. Stop by to learn more about autism, and show your support for the cause.

An Evening of Poetry –
“Estuaries of the Mind”

This Tuesday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Gorge, award-winning poet Jason Kirkey will be sharing his poetry.

Influenced by the myriad landscapes that he’s lived in – the temperate forests and old mountains of New England, the red rocks and high desert of Colorado, Irish mountains and rivers, the Pacific Coast, and the redwood trees of California - Kirkey’s poetry touches on nature, Eastern philosophy, ecology, and the Celtic traditions of his ancestry.

As a poet, author, and founder of Hiraeth Press, Jason seeks to engage the ecological crisis through poetry as a transformative art. In addition to three collections of poems, he is the author of The Salmon in the Spring: The Ecology of Celtic Spirituality, which was a winner of a 2010 Independent Publisher Book Awards silver medal.

Farm Announces CSA Program for 2012
Cerridwen Farm would like to invite you to participate in our 2012 CSA program. Purchase of a CSA share helps to fund the purchase of supplies for the spring and the education and research projects that take place on Cerridwen Farm. This year, the farm already has approximately three hundred tomato seedlings germinated, and kale and peppers are on their way. As the season begins to take off, the revenue generated from the CSA becomes essential to supporting our operation.

This year you can purchase 20 weeks of farm-fresh vegetables and eggs (running June through October) for the cost of $450 for a large share, which is enough to feed four people (or two veggie lovers) or $275 for a small share, which is roughly half the size of a large. We also have semester only shares available for $200, which begin in September.

This year we are offering an early payment discount of $25 for members who have paid for their share by April 15th as well as a discount of $25 for members who refer new members.

We are also happy to arrange payment plans and split shares. Arrangements for automatic payroll withdrawal should be made with Janie Evans.

For order forms, stop by the farm or contact Alison Putnam at putnama@greenmtn.edu.
