It is easiest and best for international applicants to communicate with our Admissions Office by e-mail, not phone. Please direct your questions to admiss@greenmtn.edu.

When reviewing applications, the Office of Admissions staff is looking for students who are ready to succeed, ready for new challenges, and who want to contribute to our community. There is no "silver bullet" or test score that will guarantee your admission to Green Mountain College. There is also no test score or grade that will guarantee you rejection. Our decision will be based on your complete application.

The best advice for an applicant is, be yourself. Be honest and be open. What do you want to contribute to Green Mountain College? What are your talents in the classroom, in the laboratory, with a pen or paintbrush, or on the playing field? Make sure that your application tells us who you really are.

The admissions process at Green Mountain College is designed to be user friendly. Selecting a college is a major decision in your life -- there is no sense in hassling you with red tape. Remember that as you move along through the application, we are here to help every step of the way.

How to Apply
Applicants are encouraged to apply online.

Green Mountain College is a member of The Common Application. We accept both the paper and electronic applications. The application fee is waived if you submit the electronic application.

You may also apply online through our website. The application fee will be waived if you submit your application online.

If you prefer to mail your application in, you may download the PDF application here. A $30 application fee will be charged. If you wish to request a fee waiver, please contact the Office of Admissions.

Requirements
In order to review an application, the Office of Admissions requires the following items of all international applicants:

  • Application for Admission
  • Full Record of Secondary School Transcripts
  • Full Record of College and/or University Transcripts, if applicable
  • SAT, ACT, TOEFL, or IELTS Scores
  • One Essay or Personal Statement
  • One Letter of Recommendation
  • Certificate of Finances
  • International Student Financial Aid Application

Until an applicant has submitted each of these requirements, the application will be listed as "incomplete."

Official test scores are required of all international applicants whose first language is not English. International students who opt to take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) must score above 173 on the computer-based test, above 61 on the internet-based test, or above 500 on the paper-based test. International students who opt to take the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) must score above a band score of 5.0.

The TOEFL is administered by the Educational Testing Service of Princeton, N.J. Please visit Get TOEFL® Test Information for more information.

IELTS is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations. Please visit www.ielts.org for more information.

All international applicants must submit a full record of college and/or university transcripts, if applicable. All documents must be in English. For more information about international transcripts and credentials, please contact World Education Services.

Applicants are encouraged to submit supplemental application materials. Supplemental materials provide you the opportunity to showcase special talents, abilities, passions, and awards that may not be reflected in your personal statement or recommendation. Use supplemental materials as an opportunity to demonstrate what you will contribute to the campus community at Green Mountain College.

Supplemental materials may include:

  • Additional Letters of Recommendation
  • Additional Essays
  • Resume of Community Service experience, Work experience, and/or Leadership experience
  • Visual or Performing Arts Portfolio
  • Class work Portfolio

At any time, you may contact the Office of Admissions to check on the status of your application.

Financial Aid for International Students
Green Mountain College offers generous, but limited, financial aid for international students. Merit scholarships and need-based scholarships are available for international students, but no applicant should expect Green Mountain College to cover the complete costs of tuition, room and board, fees, and books. International students should realistically expect to contribute significantly to the cost of their own education.

To be considered for any scholarships or grants, International Students must complete two forms:

  • International Student Financial Aid Application (download)
  • Certificate of Finances (download)

Download, complete, and submit these forms with your application, by the priority application deadline for International Students.
